i found the ocean!

Kristin:
After working a case at the Bay Area Hospital all night, I finished in time to find the beach at sunrise. This is just south of Reedsport. I drove the car as far as it would go down a dirt road and then walked the rest of the way over the dunes until I found the ocean. Also saw a bunch of elk.

hangin with mah peeps

I got chickens! The best way to get eggs... cruelty-free, hormone-free, antibiotic-free and evil-free. Also a great way to waste time as I can pretty much stare at them for very long periods of time and be totally entertained. Although these gals need a few months before they lay any breakfast, here they are. Presenting Petunia (tuna) and Pearl.

Petunia getting nosy (beaky?) regarding the camera

Pearl being calm and lady-like as always, showing off her new wing feathers.

Pearl is the most mellow baby bird in history, and a natural model.

Here is Pearl again posing peacefully with a tic-tac box for scale.

and heeeere's 'Tuna looking ambivalent and wanting to get back to the food dish

Oregon Trail

The kind and loving state of Oregon just issued David an "Oregon Trail Card" that gives us money for groceries while we are both still working on getting working. YAY!

(I'm going to buy 100lbs of buffalo and only carry 20lbs back to the wagon)

COOKING!

Kristin has nothing else to do besides cook. And so she made squash soup... from scratch. Literally. Bought them whole, scooped and roasted the squash and everything. It turns out you can't can squash soup because you'll die of botulism if you even try. So, some went to Swift and co. and the rest is in the freezer. Yay!

fun kitchen!
